THE IOWA GOVERNOR'S LADY

Today was a windy and very chilly day here in Iowa. There was a warmth brought to our fair town of Ida Grove by Iowa's Governor Vilsac's Lady.
Mrs. Vilsac is a warm, very generous lady. She takes ribbing in stride and dishes out her own in reply. She is very quick on the up-take.
She came to town today to assist the Lady Democrat Schulte contesting against U.S. Congressman Steve King.
As with every small town, everyone stands around shifting around from foot to foot, no one wants to open their mouth "first"..
I had forgotten Mrs. Vilsac was scheduled in at our local hardware store, and entered the store looking for a wall hanger to hang a lamp. I noticed everyone as nervous as long tailed cats in a room full of rockers.
To ease the tension, I walked up to Ms. Schulte and she extended her hand (as Mrs. Vilsac stood smiling behind Ms. Schulte). I took Ms. Schulte's hand and introduced myself, and with a smile and a wink at Mrs. Vilsac who was standing behind, said "Welcome to our town Mrs. Vilsac" while shaking Ms. Schulte's hand...
Everyone came close to having a heart attack at this apparent social faux pais...
Well! This good natured and well intended social faux pais actually thawed the ice, and the lovely Mrs. Vilsac joked and kidded with the local towns people, she thought I was like the former Governor of Texas, Ann Richards.
While the afternoon proceeded, all were at ease with Mrs. Vilsac and the Democrat Contender for Congressman King's U.S. House Seat as valuable "one on one" time was had by all, with all speaking out in regards to their own ideas of how to remedy our problems with government, both state and federal.
The Governor's Lady is a pure delight. It was a pleasure to meet the Lady, but I had to excuse myself and leave "BEFORE I DECIDED TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT."
